Saisonrückblick 2024/2025
In the 2024-2025 season, Volley Oerlikon Damen 1 had a good, “building” year. The club’s goal was to
repeat the success of the year before and get another chance to go up to the 2nd league. Unfortunately we
didn’t meet that goal, but we did have lots of successes along the way.
The team roster had some departures, including middle blockers Karin Serban and Marianne Müller and
outside Kaoru Uda. To fill the gap at the net we welcomed Nora Visetti (middle) and Klara Summer (middle,
dia) and Elya Ouroumova (dia, outside) and were also thrilled to secure a libera, Chantal Pfister, to improve
our defense in the back row. Happily for us, our now-certified COACH Ivan Miljković returned for another
season.
The team started off the season competing in the Mobiliar Volley Cup, where we to made to Runde 4, finally
falling 1:3 to 2L team Volley Mutschellen.
We had mixed results in the Meisterschaft, ending 3rd on the Rangliste with 29 points and 35: 24 (sets won:
sets lost). We noticed improved competition around the third league, with most of our matches going to four
or five sets. Fun fact: We played in four five-set matches this season and won all of them!
Through the season we tried many different combinations on the court. With our new libera Chanti, we could
be more flexible and consistent in serve receive and on defense. We relied on captain Cansu Cinar (setter) or
Angelika Hartung (setter) to run the offense, and used Xenia Heid, Ola Garal and Sabrina Mühlemann on the
outside attack. Tanja Sretovic, another very strong outside, played a few matches but unfortunately a broken
arm in November ended her season early. The new players Elya and Klara could also find themselves
occasionally playing in outside, as well as returning middle Mallory Britton who transitioned to outside
through the course of the season. At the other pin was Nina Heinrich playing dia along with Nicole Korner
and sometimes Klara. Completing the strong offense were new middles Nora and Klara and returning
middles Aina Cordero Rothen and Nicole, whose season also was very short due to an ankle injury.
A huge thanks those who supported us during these games, and especially to the guest players Diana Peláez,
Celine de Maria and Melanie Hug who brought a great level to our trainings.
Next year, the club is still on the road to the 2nd league. We’re motivated and focused in the off-season and
currently recruiting some new talent to help realize our goal. Allez Oerlikon!
